Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, in America's eyes, into the class of child prodigies. This was a very natural trait for a girl who was of Irish heritage, who was nurtured in her early days by talented family members as well as parents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh an area in Dublin the capital of Ireland on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based firm and also owned a stake in "The Shamrock Rovers" famous Irish soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons came 2nd in the family of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen was a fan of rough and sporting games in her youth and excelled at sports. Her talent for performing was the perfect match for her love of sports. This is why she received almost all of the Feis Awards for dramatic and acting in her home country. By age 14 she was invited into the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her dreams of classical theatre and operatic singing.
